Delivering training for over a decade

"Thank you!   As always a great presentation!"  –   Professor Carolyn Chew-Graham

Since 2020 and the Covid pandemic, I have delivered hour-long online lectures for RCGP One Day Essentials on a variety of topics:

  • Fight, flight, and freeze: Adrenaline mediated illness including anxiety and complex PTSD
  • Recognition and management of people at risk
  • People with emotional dyresgulation, is their personality disordered?
  • Supporting people with complex emotional needs

Prior to 2020, in collaboration with Professor Carolyn Chew-Graham, I created a whole-day training event which we delivered twice yearly for RCGP North West. The training introduced GPs to complex mental illness scenarios using five cases, blending short lectures with facilitated round-table discussions. We also hosted colleagues from the Voluntary, Community, and Social Enterprise (VCSE) sector to enhance GPs' understanding of the breadth of service provision.

Feedback from particpants:

  • Really informative session – enjoyed the segment regarding the difference between PTSD & complex PTSD – as a GPST3 this was new information to me & gave me greater confidence in screening for this in my patients
  • Very engaging and relevant
  • Interesting approach to a difficult topic
  • Impactful
